This evening the lecturer takes you to New Mexico and Texas. Join him for photos and stories from his numerous trips "Out West". Your trip starts in the high-altitude city of Albuquerque in New Mexico with its 280 days of sunshine. Heading down south you pass the famous "White Sands" area near Alamagordo, the largest gypsum dune field in the world. You have a look at the famous caves of the Carlsberg Caverns before entering the "Big Bend National Park". Part of the park's attraction is a raft ride down the Rio Grande or Rio Bravo. As the river constitutes the borderline between The United States and Mexico, it is a unique experience to go swimming in the waters of the USA and have a picnic in Mexico. It´s also the place for dark-sky stargazing, marvelling at the clear outline of the Milky Way band. Heading east along a lonely, never ending road to San Antonio you have a look at the movie site of the film "Alamo". You check out Huston and the Space Center and finally arrive in Fort Worth, Texas. The city was established in 1849 as an Army outpost. Today, Fort Worth still embraces its Western heritage.
Clear, understandable English will also help a less experienced audience to follow.
